new first gen 1979 rx 7
Hi.I am Shane and I am from Akron Ohio.
Just bought a 1979 rx7 clean no rust with 90k miles on it and drove around 60 miles and parked it over night. It wont turn even after jumping it no start? I'm new to cars as this is my first one so far i think it might be the alternator starter or just the battery even though its new? Also I heard of carbon lock but if its carbon locked will it turn ?
Any help apreciated thanks ":]

Carbon lock refers to a problem with the apex seal s. The engine will still turn over with carbon lock. since the car was recently running its probablly not carbon lock. maybe a starter problem. Check battery to see if it puts out 12 volts. No 12 volts battery is discharged or bad. I have a 79 RX7, this was the only year Mazda used an external voltage regulator. Did you get it wet? its mounted on the inside panel drivers side under the hood facing the fender. Check the ground negitve cable coming from battery. Check battery and starter connection.
If it's a 5 speed you could try rolling it and popping the clutch to start it. I've had a bad starter on my old 88 rx7, hit it with a hammer a few times (not too hard) and it started working again.
Good luck
Good luck
off? like not accurate or not working? its just a cable i believe that hooks into the transmission sometimes they can be loose or broken.
