Hey I was lucky enough to pick up an 84 RX7 last night. Its got about 160K Miles on it. Seems to run ok, owner before me put a very bad sounding fart can on it. Just was wondering what I should expect to replace on this car with this mileage, at least on the motor. I'm new to the rotary but exited to learn how to tune her and all that good stuff. Anyone have good tips on carb tuning for this engine? It backfires a **** ton, but good power and decent gas mileage (drove it about 200 miles home the first night I got it!)

First off welcome to the Club.
If you haven't already heard it (and you will plenty) get a manual (Factory, Haynes... you can even download a copy from a number of different members (RX7 Doc and Sgt Fox come to mind)....
Next, go to the 1st Gen Achieve section and read the FAQ section as a bare minimum...lots of great info there, plus you'll get flamed pretty quickly if you ask a question that's been answered a million time "How do I drop a turbo in my 1st Gen". not that anyone is an a-hole.....just the info is out there and the same question is asked every week....
Lastly....without knowing what kind of condition your car is in or which mods have been done, I'd say safety first....Make sure brakes and suspension are up to snuff. Replace brake fluid, new pads, make sure suspension is tight.
Next check/change all belts. Then oil, trans, and rear diff fluids. then plugs, cap, rotor, wire. Air & oil filter (same time you change oil).
Or you can just drive your car and change stuff as it breaks....Post some pix
Have fun and good luck
