MO New 91 RX-7 Convertible Owner Need a little advice

Recently purchased a 91 convertible with 90k miles. It's got a few issues I'd like some advice on.

1: I didn't notice it until just now, but there's a problem with the air filter setup (stock afaik). Either the previous owner way overtightened the screws or the engine heat has just screwed up the 21 year old plastic (I kinda doubt this one, its pretty thick) or both put together. It's kinda hard to describe exactly but the plastic molding around the mounts the screws go into on the bottom half are mostly all cracked in half. Half of the screws do not tighten down correctly because of this. I don't trust the box to provide an adequate seal anymore so I need to either look into replacing the air filter box or perhaps going with an aftermarket mod such as a mushroom style filter or something.

2: It's also having a nagging issue where if there's much power load on the engine at low speed (cold or warm doesn't matter) the engine will quit. For example: Sitting in park is fine. Turn on the AC - Fine. Put her in reverse - still fine. Turn the wheel full left or full right - rpms drop and engine stalls. There is also a noticeable drop in rpms when sitting in park and you turn on pretty much anything headlights, ac (the biggest one). Unless this is a sign of bigger issues I need to dig into, I can live without being able to turn on the AC until I get the car moving forward again after pulling out of a parking space though. At speed, as far as I can tell, this issue doesn't exist. I've not tried sticking her into neutral at highway speeds but cruises and accelerates and brakes fine anyways.

3: There is a remnant of some kind of foam thing that was glued to the top of the radiator and the black bar thing that runs just under the air intake duct (not sure what that is atm). I'm not sure what this foam gap barrier was for exactly, don't know if I should stress replacing it, or what to replace it with.

Any recommendations on the best approach to these things would be appreciated.
