Need step by step instructions on reinstalling the factory rats nest
Hello All,
I've been working on a friends stock, third generation 1993 RX7 with factory sequential turbos. Believe it or not its been sitting for about 10 years. He simply abandoned the car.
I removed the rats nest to replace the fuel injectors and now I can't reinstall the rats nest. There are many connections to be made and I'm having a very difficult time with this. I have conducted a thorough forum search and haven't found any threads on this matter. Can anyone point me in the right direction? Eternally grateful for any help ... thanks.

I appreciate the link to the manuals but to be honest I'm looking for something more precise. My hope is that someone in this community can give me detailed, step by step instructions on how to get this rats nest back in. For example, the fuel delivery pipe that the solenoids and hoses attach to comes apart. Should I take it apart or should I leave it intact?

Your best bet is to just print out the vacuum line diagram and do your best to connect what you know. Then when you get stumped, take some photos and someone here can probably guide you that way. I don't think you'll find a step-by-step guide if you haven't found one already using the search (or google search). So many people have ditched the rats nest that there aren't a lot of experts left. That probably isn't an option for you in California though.

Life pro-tip, in the future label and take pictures of everything you disconnect, as you disconnect it.
I just put mine back in, and even with all of that, I still had a couple of hoses I had to chase down on the diagram for various reasons.
I don't think you will find any super detailed step-by-step + pictures guides on this. Most guides will give you the above advice, because its not uncommon for the rats nest to be modified/simplified in various ways. People might be able to identify specific lines, or answer more defined questions on your part.
Print out a large diagram of the vacuum line routing, and start tracing/labeling your rubber lines starting with a known point (the solenoids, in my opinion). This would be a great time to go ahead and put in fresh rubber/silicone vacuum lines, new check valves, and test your solenoids as well.
Once you do that, it should be fairly easy to reinstall.

Yep, use the diagrams in the FSM. I'd leave the rack with the fuel line intact...can't think of any reason to disconnect. If it's not too late, be careful of the solenoids and check valves. They're usually pretty fragile after several years of heat.
If the Upper Intake Manifold to Lower Intake Manifold gasket looked like a thin piece of plastic film, then you'll also need a new gasket. The newer ones were metal and a better design...less prone to leaking and re-usable.
These also might be of help (from the FAQ sticky at the top of this section).....
