need some advice...

signed up to this forum for some help.
Im thinking about buying a 91 RX-7 that runs well with 165*** miles on it that runs strongfor 1500. The thing im having a problem with is the fact that cosmetically its terrible. the interior is torn to pieces . it needs a very great amount of cosmetic work inside and out. the convertible top also needs reeplaced. please.. somebody tell me. is it worth it?

It really depends. It will cost about $1000 to take care of the interior, and about $500 to fix the top if you do all the labour. Is it worth it to you? Because you are asking, the answer is probably "no".

Like Aaron Cake said, if you're willing to do the labor and plan on only driving the car for a year or so in that condition or plan to use it as a track car then yeah that's a good find.

And I don't mean to thread jack but if you want I can send you pics and info on a car I'm actually selling, it'll be posted in F/S section tonight. It has few problems and I pretty much had everything replaced (I have pics and receipts). I'm asking $4500 which is a steal considering all the work but I'm willing to let it go for a little less. It'll be a great starter car for a new RX-7 owner since pretty much all of the grunt work has already been done.

I agree with what others have stated. With the amount of work ahead of you cosmetically it probably isnt worth the work for that particular car. I would agree as well tho if you plan to track it and make a track car it might be a great candidate. Just dont go into this thinking you have a new car, remember its old and it can and will die one day.

Here's the link if you're interested: https://www.rx7club.com/showthread.p...43#post9560643

But seeing how you're on the otherside of FL and this would be your first 7 I would definitely talk to some locals first before heading into these cars. They're probably completely different from what you're use to especially since they are 20-years-old cars with 20-year-old technology and parts.
