Need help to specify what materials are the original 13B engine parts made of.

Hi,

Me and a team of engineers are doing a research to improve 13B engines in some aspects, but we struggled a bit on specifying the original materials and manufacturing process of each part, it doesn't have to be very specific, a general answer would be enough for now. I was following this forum as a guest for a while and i thought it would be the right forum to ask.

If anyone could please reply any useful information or sources about this engine or any other rotary engine that shares the same parts we would be grateful.

Thanks!

welcome to the board.

i don't metallurgy or detailed processes, but here goes ....

rotor housings = aluminum with a steel insert
side housings - cast iron
rotors = steel
eccentric shaft = steel
seals = steel

i'm not sure if that's the info you need, but if it is not, then specify what you want and i'm sure someone here can give you the information or point you in a meaningful direction.

Mazda wrote a lot of SAE papers during the engines' development, and there is a wealth of technical information in them, not just for what materials were used, but why they made the production choices they did.
