Need advice starting FAR from stock 1st gen GSL-SE
Greetings,
I have inherited my dad's 1984 GSL-SE w 54k on her. The car was running when parked but has been sitting for approx. 10yrs.
Is it safe/good idea to get it running and drive for a while (after testing compression...btw what should the compression be?) Vs. Do a rebuild changing seals/apex seals etc?
It has been dyno'd over 300hp and has the following mods:
-Turbo kit installed by Corky Bell in Austin tx, big single turbo
-HKS exhaust
-Custom headers
-Geddy Blow-off
-Variable rate fuel pressure regulator by Bell Engineering
-Hi pressure fuel pump
The car has an issue - when you back off the gas real quick, the by-pass back to the tank from the variable rate pressure regulator sees a real high surge and it has popped a fitting x2...

Since the car has been parked, you'll need to clean the entire fuel system. This will help:

You don't necessarily need to rebuild the engine. With a regular piston compression tester, 3 even pulses of 90 PSI and above per rotor are good. But you do need to treat it very gently for the first little while after it is back on the road so things have time to bed in again.
