Need 1980 rx7 Antenna recommendation
My 1980 RX7 needs a new automatic/power antenna. I looked around for original equipment replacement and have concluded that it does not exist.
There are many aftermarket antennas available but I would like a proven installation recommendation.
I would appreciate a recommendation for a quality after-market antenna.
Thanks in advance.

I found an aftermarket Metra 44 antenna but the issue is how it must be wired. The original Mazda antenna had 2 leads that would switch polarity for up and down. The metra has an "always-on" lead, ground lead and a third lead that is positive for up and nothing for down. I have some relays I plan to use to convert the Mazda interface to the metra interface but have not had time to wire it up. I will make a diagram once I get it working and post it here.

I just ordered the same Metra antenna this morning. On my '85 the plug going to the antenna has 3 leads... so I'm hoping I don't have this issue you're describing.
Also just found out I can still get the OEM part from Mazda... for about $240!!! Which is actually tempting because I want to keep my GS as original as possible... but I may have to save my pennies for a while for that...haha!
