Na, Turbo just a reasonable question
Ive been looking around and looking around and cannot figure out this. So ive got all the turbo 2 parts and im planning on putting them on my car, i understand all the main things about it, like fabricating and what not. I already have all the turbo 2 parts i should need but i do plan on buying a few more misc. pieces, but my question is: Would it be wise to use a safc like the e-manage with a turbo2 computer and all the turbo 2 hardware on the n/a engine? any thoughts or ideas or a different way to do it to make it possibly easier or better would be well appreciated.

No, an SAFC is just a device that tricks the ECU into adding/subtracting fuel. It also has the downside of inadvertently affecting timing everywhere you adjust fuel. There is no way to properly adjust timing with it, and on a high compression turbo engine that is deadly. You would end up with 2 options: throw lots of extra fuel at it (larger injectors & added fuel corrections), or run very low boost (~5 psi). Both of these options mean limiting the power you'll be able to get out of the engine.
The proper way to go about it is to use a standalone EMS or Rtek 2.0. Both of these options allow timing control and fuel corrections that do not adversely affect timing. To go with it, you'll need a wideband 02 sensor to do the tuning. Water injection to suppress knock would also be a very good idea.
So many NA owners try to build a 6-port turbo engine as cheap as possible. The reality is that nearly every single one built for next to nothing has blown, or is on the verge of it. The handful that take the time and money to build it safely are still running strong.

well im not scared to spend money or nothing like that...one of my horrible habbits ha. but thanks for the info and im sure ill be going with one of them or something really close to them. im just in the process of seeing what others think about the whole tuning issue. also if i use one of those would i still be able to keep the n/a ecu inside or just swap to the turbo II ecu

If you're talking about using an Rtek 2.0/2.1, the turbo ECU would be the platform to start with. Even chipped NA ECUs have no way for you to adjust mixture/timing under boost, and the matching NA pressure sensor also cannot read boost.
The wiring changes to adapt a TII ECU and related sensors is very simple on both S4s and S5s (as long as you stay within series). Click the link in my sig. for details. It's the same as when doing a full TII swap.

Well, so far i have 5 posts and it says you need 10 to view links in signature but as soon as i can ill look at it. my car is an s5 i seen a website that would only let you choose between a few years of rx7 for the rtek2.0 and it wouldnt match. so do you know a better website to look at them and maybe see the differences between a few of them?
