My turbo is glowing red help

i have a 88 rx7 turbo 2 motor is stock besides cold air,10.2mm plug wires . i just replaced my turbo with a 89-91 remanufactured i just put the s5 front on my s4 back to bolt right on but we started my car and with in a minute or to my turbo was glowing red hot my old turbo did this also but i figured it was cuz my bearings were broke and the turbins were grinding does this sound like a plugged oil line or bad wastegate or what do u think

If a cat is plugged or the timing is way off, this could happen. Check to see if the CAS has moved (there's a screw to hold it in place in the groove), and put a timing light on the engine at idle. You can also unbolt the cat/precats to see if there is any damage.

I've seen that happen on a TII because of the Turbo not getting enough/any oil. If it was the wastegate I would think you'd be seeing quite a few other symptoms as well?

Is this just after starting and idling a bit or after coming back from a drive?

They all glow after a drive - if you're doing it right.

I had the same problem last year. Retarded ignition Timing was the problem.

its just ideling also at 2500 i think it is my timing i will have to check it but when we put the new turbo on we found my cat was clogged so punched all the packing out so it is hollow and put back on and it was still glowing
