ON My reverse lights are...reversed?

After replacing my clutch I've noticed that the back-up lights are on in every gear except reverse. Checking the wires coming off the switch on the tranny i found continuity all the time except in reverse.

I'm at a loss for how this could have happened or how to fix the switch itself other than just replacing it if i can find one. I guess I could just grab a normally closed relay and rewire the lights.

The car is an 87 GXL that was auto but now manual.

Thanks for any help

Are you sure you plugged the correct wires into the switch? The neutral switch is in a similar location the transmission tail housing, and will be open/closed under different conditions.

Ah that was it. Seeing flimsy crimp on connectors at the end of the green wires I assumed they were extensions of the red reverse wires whose connectors were so corroded they didn't show any continuity. After stripping the ends and retesting the red ones I see you are correct. So simple
Thanks for the help
