my problum child 93 fd - radiator
hello everyone.
my 93 FD has finally sprung a leak. lol
the stock radiator has finally gone, thankfully the car didn’t overheat.
but I’m in the market for an aftermarket radiator.. any suggestions?
I would like it to be more of a direct fit because I’m not into cutting up my car.
I have done some looking around and so far Fluidyne has been a popular and very expensive one I’ve found. I know Koyo and Mishimoto are options as well .
but I’m not so sure about how they fit...
I’m open to options...
thank you

Having started fitting a Koyo N-Flow last weekend... As long as all your radiator mounts line up OK (i.e. never been in a front end crash), it will slot in easily. What you may have trouble with (as with any thicker-than-stock radiator) is the fitment of the standrd airbox, A/C drier & standard intercooler ducts above it, and the A/C condensor below it. All easily fixed if you are handy with a Dremel - but NOT plug and play.
If you want something that'll drop right in, then you should stick to something close to stock thickness.

I went with a AWR/Ron Davis radiator...
Read somewhere that this is/was the radiator Mazda Speed folk used (read race)...
All I can say is WOW!!! Fit and finish is most excellent...
100% OEM drop in, with zero mods of any kind
Been up and runn'in for months now without any issues...
Cordially,

Among the better direct fit radiators is the Fluidyne and its well priced. The Mazdaspeed/Ron Davis is also great but pricey. I speak from experience having owned the Fluidyne and the Koyo.
The Koyo is thicker and presents some challenges with fitment. The Koyo N Flow is thicker still and presents some challenges. If you don't believe me, Click the Search link from the top menu and search in the 3rd gen section for "Koyo fitment".

You sure you didn't get a universal radiator as you are saying there weren't any mounting tabs etc?
I wanted a Mishimoto radiator when I first got my 95 RX-7, so I e-mailed them, they are expecting to have a RX-7 specific radiator released by the end of Spring 2010.

That's funny, I cannot locate on the Mishimoto's website where it says they offer an RX-7 Radiator.
