My fuel pump doesnt get current..Faulty fuel pump relay? HELP!

So i recently got an 1991 rx7 fc convertible with 80k miles for $500 and it wont start.
The fuel pump doesn't seem to turn on when i turn the key. It does turn on though when I crank the engine, but the engine wont start due to lack of fuel I believe.

The fuel pump seems to only turn on when I give it direct current. Could it be a relay? A resistor?
The fuel pump and spark plugs are new btw.

Any suggestions on what the problem could be?

It will only turn on when the key is on Start position.
Then the AFM sees air and "hits a switch" that allows to fuel pump to remain on and continue pumping fuel.So then the car will remain getting fuel(running engine).

So your issue is normal and is not the problem.

Have you at least checked for spark or the presence of fuel?
