Your thermostat position will not affect the car starting. If it is not starting then there are other issues to deal with.

As for puking ot the overflow tank, do you have a cap on the tank? Is the tank over filled?

Did you replace all the coolant in the engine and put in the thermostat?.
If you are getting Gushes of coolant upon starting, then it may be "toast".

Mine was gushing too. Swapped the radiator, it fixed the problem.

If you feel boiling liquid in the lines then you either have air in the lines and/or a leak or the wrong mixture of coolant and water. I would pressure test your system and the radiator cap. If the coolant is not pressurized then the coolant will boil. The pressurization raised the boiling temperature of the coolant.

There is a boiling sound and the mixture isn't really the problem it's not perfect but it's good enuf. The thing is the air bleeder on the rad is stripped. It's the black plastic thing on the top of the rad.

The coolant overflow is full of boiling water after 5 minutes of noob city driving and 15 minutes of highway driving at 160 kph the faster I got the lower the tempature
