WI Motor mount positioning

Wondering if anyone has measurements of the positioning of the motor mounts on the 13B T and the REW?

What I'm looking for are the following:

- distance between the mounts transversely
- from the front to center on the mounting point
- from the rear to center on the mounting point
- how tall do the mounts make the engine sit off the chassis

I'm working on getting my machine drawings started and this is data make all the difference.

You are asking some vague questions and more info is needed.
Like what engine is in what car and what are your intentions.
Do you want to put an REW in an FC?..stuff like that.
Depending on engine,it can vary height and placement in whatever car you have.So more info is needed to help you get your answers.

It is not going into a RX7 of any kind a I'm looking at using the 13B T(S5) engine in a kit/project car.

My goal with this is to get an idea of the position of where motor mount bolts to the motor on the housing/block with respect to the dimensions of the bare motor. I need to know how much motor is behind the mounts towards the firewall and how much is in front of the mounts towards the radiator. This will help me with positioning the modifications that I need to make to the front sub frame in order to locate the motor correctly in the engine bay.

Hope the pic helps explain what I'm asking:

these are not precise - just ballparked ...

the engine block is a little over 12 inches long (assembled) - but keep in mind that this does not include anything beyond the border of the front side housing.

to about midway of the intermediate housing was about 6.5 inches (the rear housing is a little thicker than the front.)

by the way, this was a S4 13B-T (mounted in my car already). for the REW, it mounts from the bottom of the rear side housing, so it would literally be just before the transmission interface. the differences are minor which I know is NOT the same as insignificant. however, I have an REW here so if you need something else ....

honestly, you're probably better off getting the engine first and then doing what you have to do because mounting is something that usually gives you room to maneuver - you may have to get creative, but you will have some leeway because they're going to be custom anyway. this is something that works in your favor.

the other thing that works in your favor is the fact that rotaries have been mounted from the front, middle and rear over the years, so you can use that fact (and the related parts/provisions) to your advantage.

as I said in your other thread, all of the 13B engines are generally the same dimensions (roughly a square foot) the attachments like front covers, manifolds and other ancillaries vary.

thank you again for the great information. I'm thinking that I will have to get the engine and then move forward with the design for the front of the car.

was just hoping to get a start before spending a ton of money. Plus the money is just not quite there yet so it was a way to move on with the project with no expenditure.
