motor knock

I know this is crazy but at idle my rx7 knocks and while driving it stops. Do I need a rebuild or is there a sensor causing an issue? I don't know much about these motors to know what's going on.

welcome to the board.

1. which Rx-7?
2. have you had issues with oil pressure?
3. please describe the "knock" you're referring to.

it's been my experience that more often than not, people that say rotaries are "knocking" are usually hearing other things. that's not to say you can't hose main and/or rotor bearings though.

Its a 91 s5 vert.

I dont know about oil pressure the gauge doesn't work.

The knock sounds like I threw a big rock inside the motor. But its not a constant knock its intermittent but sounds like a rattle but not an exhaust rattle.

the knock may be due to the oil pressure gauge not working and low oil pressure in the motor causing failure on the stationary gears. thats what happend to my 3rd gen

Well I can't get it to do it anymore I found a hose hanging down that is supposed to go to the cat so I took the clamp off and took the pipe out and put a bolt in the hose and clamped it and all my noises seem to have stopped. But if it happens again ill for sure take a video
