miss my old rx7

so my old 2nd gen non turbo rx7 *streetported , intake, full exhaust, removed 5/6 ports* i owned for 6 years i ended up selling for 300 bucks after investing thousands into it because it blew the coolant seals 25,000 miles after being rebuilt (at least im pretty sure) , now im driving a 98 nissan 200sx ser ,my new car is great on gas milage but it just sucks as far as being as fast as my rx7 or as fun to drive , or as easy to work on.

i was thinking about trying to get a trade for a turbo 2nd gen , my car's got 143,000 miles on it 1998 200sx ser 5 speed (sr20de nonturbo), already put new cv axles, 205 55 15 goodyear gt eagle tires, front struts, full exhaust, o2 sensor, intake, strut mounts, ngk spark plug wires/spark plugs. gets 28-35+ mpg on the highway , i figure my cars worth around 2000-2500, ive invested 1000 in parts or more at least

Keep in mind... These cars are 20+ years old, and gas prices will be very close to $5.00 per gallon this summer.

I didn't factor in the election. Gas is currently ~$4.39 per gallon in the area where I live... I wouldn't be surprised to see it jump higher.

Wow thats pretty darn expensive. I am in NH on the East Coast and gas prices have fallen. It was up in the 3.80's and has been dropping. It is now 3.45 in my town. Looks like it may wind down to the 3.00 mark. I wont hold my breath though, cause I am sure someone will take a crap over in the middle east and cause the prices to sky rocket again. Gotta love speculation and fear in the market.

well this is rotary1982 , i figured out my old account info, they actually switched my screename from wtfdidusay82 to wthdidusay82 (i guess the swear word was offensive)

but as you can see i have like over 1000 posts, i owned this rx7 i sold for $300 bucks for like 6 years, gas where i am is relatively cheap. Yesterday I saw it for $3.05 , this is tennesee.

I'd like to think turbo 2 could be capable of 20-25 mpg on highway, and a non turbo can do 25-30 with a less conservative fuel map, rx7s run really rich to prevent detonation but if u can keep it running right you can lean it out, with an safc of some other kind of fuel management or aftermarket ecu.

Just need to be careful with tuning, don't do it yourself, have someone that knows how to tune your car do it, i've had a friend that was stupid turn down all fuel on idle and blew up his turbo rx7 motor in his 2nd gen when it had only 5,000 miles on it or less, real smart.

My rx7 (na) , i think the cause of it blowing the coolant seals after 25,000 miles was because it was overheated by me a few times after being put back in after engine rebuild (bad clutch fan and didnt figure that out till i overheated it a few times) and it was previously overheated by the last owned maybe some of the stuff was slightly warped (one of the intermediate housings had a hole in it and was replaced), i had it rebuilt by rotaryresurrection.com (kevin landers)
