ok i know there are some other posts in the other sections but i am in desperate need of some help... i have a 1989 rx7 gxl... it has a misfire, which can be felt in the car... the rear top plug when connected has no kv signal?? and when not connected sparks frantically everywhere... and the car is also running very rich u can smell it, and it wont pass smog, the HC's are at like 733 ive replaced the cat, and o2 sensor which dropped it to that from 1763 but to pass smog it supposed to be no more than 100 so yea i need help big time... the rest of the results are in i just cant fix the hc's, plz any help would be greatly appreciated...

It sounds like you may need to replace the trailing coil, or at least the plug wires. Or both. But the only reliable way to test spark is a spark tester, not a timing light.

Has the car had a full tuneup lately? Test the CLT and TPS according to the FSM.

Have the injectors professionally cleaned.
