massive motor oil puddle
hi all, on my 91 gtu, i've notice that there is a light motor oil leak out from the oil filter area. now would that expleain a big puddle of motor oil on the ground? plus the dipstick is low at times when i check it. jack up the car and notice alot of area around the oil pan to tranny, front en of the drive shaft and up along the wall of the engine where the plugs sit is damp or have contact with motor oil.
is it possible that i might have bad oil seal(s) somewhere?
or could it be somthing else??
p.s. im 2nd owner and the car has never been tamprd with. every thing is still pretty much stock with 135xxx original miles and original parts under the hood on vehicle is pretty much old, like hoses and stuff.
i just think that its too much oil for a little oil leak but i could be wrong, anything related would help ALOT. thanks

If you have a leak at the oil filter, it's going to run down the block and get all over everything. The pan and transmission are both in that area, and when you drive it's going to make its way back even further.
Underneath the oil filter is a metal pedestal that is held on by two 10mm nuts from below. Sandwiched between this and the rear iron are two rubber o-rings. If these o-rings are worn out, you'll develop an oil leak directly below the filter. The other option is that the seal on the filter is bad, but either way you'll need to inspect the area.
