.is it just because you want to take it off,or is there some other reason?
If it is working, leave it on.
If you want to Premix then take it off,but remember it will cost you more in the long run.(2 stroke oil wise..not engine longevity wise)

I don't want to take it off. But iv been reading, and several different threads refer to a " limp mode ". I was (i say WAS because its disassembled for a good ole port and polish..) having the same symptoms as those described in said ' limp mode '. Also there had been a few notes and replies from other forums and books i'm currently reading that say, if the mop goes bad it messes up/ burns part of the brain.....And, well...Since this is my favorite and most trusted forum, i try and refer the hear say that i come across to here...So basically i'm researching with my my ever increasing lack of knowledge...If i did not need to mod the comp, then i was going to attempt to run it without the mop and see if it could be the problem....I tend to do hands on troubleshooting. Is there any truth to any of this? i'm just trying to gain knowledge just in case the problem still occurs after reassembly and after the brain is re-soldered.

Well an s4 or 1986-88 doesn't go into limp mode, since it has no Electronic OMP to deal with.
That is a Great thing, and why they ever thought that if they "Upgraded" to a Electric Omp is just plain stupid.S5's are notorious for Limp mode and that is why I just stick with S4's.
The mechanical OMP on an s4 is very reliable, and as long as the hoses and vacuum lines are good then it serves it's purpose very well.
Some guys will tend to supplement the Oil injection by Premixing AND still have the Omp on,But that is at the Track.,Street driving it is not required.
Now,if you remove the Omp just for engine bay simplicity" then you will have to Definitely Premix the Gas with 2 stroke as the engine needs it's internal lubrication.
The downside is the "nice smell off the exhaust"..oh..and people looking at you funny at gas stations!
