lowering an fc???

I just picked up an fc for $500. It runs awsome, the only thing is that just about the whole interier is stripped and i guess partly due to that it sits really high. The body sits 3 inches over the tires in the front and 4 inches in the back. The car also has fairly small rims with kinda big tires that makes the whole thing look like a dune buggy! I want to lower it but i don't have much cash. Is cutting the springs a stupid idea? I know it will effect the handling but will it make it handle really bad? What are some other cheap ways to lower it. I'm not looking to have it super low, just maybe drop an inch or two and maybe make it so the front and rear are even. Thanks!

The springs on a FC are not linear, so if you cut them they may not sit in the mounts correct.

You can pick up lowering springs for less than $200 typically on ebay.

you could always go old school and heat them up..... just a suggestions instead of cutting them up. Eibach sells a good kit too, believe its 0.5inch drop

Don't cut the springs.

If you cut the springs they are no longer springs they are coiled scrap metal.

The correct tire size will help.

Part of the reason that car sits too high is likely due to the fact that with smaller tires and wheels, the gap from tire to fender is much larger, and this makes it look like it sits higher. Getting the correct size tires and wheels will likely solve the problem all together.

If that is not the case, someone may have added a spacer in the coils, or put the incorrect size shocks on. Its hard to say without seeing it. If the shocks were wrong, you would know imediately, as it would bottom out easily.
