CA Looking at getting an 89 FC Vert and have ?'s

hey there guys
first off i am pretty much clueless about rotaries and am really looking into learning more about them with the purchase of a 1989 FC RX-7 Convertible.

So my deal is that im going to get this for my daily driver and the one im looking at getting is an Auto which is perfect more me since im still not that skilled with sticks. Im pretty much just trying to see from other peoples first hand experience with 89 FC's how they are. If any1 has info or suggestions on how to keep it alive longer and last as long as possible i would greatly appreciate anything that i can get my hands on so i may learn as much as possible.

I have read a lot of threads on the forums about peoples 89 FC's and i have gotten a general idea of what to expect. I have also checked out Aaron Cake's site about what to look for in the car before purchasing and the page on how to maintain the car.

the 89 FC Vert im looking at has 159k miles and the owner says that the car runs and im planning on talking to him more about what problems, maintenance has been done to it, how the engine is, etc...

from the pix ive seen on it the car looks really clean imo but i may be completely wrong too.
here are some pix of it:

so if any1 has any info on these cars i would love to have the knowledge that you have so i can have a fighting chance with making this work.

Thanks in advance for anything you can provide.

At 159k on the clock, if it's the original engine, that's a few miles. Not that it won't last longer, but at that point you really have to hope the maintenance on it has been stellar.

The top has some tears in it, so you're looking at replacement costs there. And the "Mazda" and "RX7" emblems are missing from the rear deck lid, so it was likely repainted recently. That could be good or bad depending on the quality of the paintwork. Also the engine bay is extremely dirty, so I'd guess the owner didn't spend much time under the hood.

Just some things to consider. Overall, it looks pretty good. 159k, if in good shape you could see 200k+. My '88's original engine had 180k and was still running strong before I pulled it.
