AB Leaky metering pump

I am currently trying to buy a '93 FD for a very reasonable price that has only 2 problems from what the seller tells me. First the clearcoat is flaking off (obviously a paint job will be in order) and second, he says that there is a small oil leak which has been traced to the metering pump. He says it burns a little too much oil while driving but does not leak any oil externally (no dripping on the ground while parked). I am new to the rotary world so have no experience with oil metering pumps. I am just wondering if this sounds legit? the car is in the next province over so I want to make sure this guy is being straight with me before I drive 10 hours to take it for a test drive and find out that it is spewing black smoke and needs a rebuild

thanks in advance for anyone with some helpful advice.

Funny if it is a leaking Omp and there are no traces of oil anywhere..
look into this further.

hey thanks, I kind of thought the same thing. I think I will have to take a trip down there and check it out before I make any decisions..

If the engine is burning some oil, it is most likely to be caused by worn oil control rings. This is common on older engines, but it isn't necessarily a major problem unless it smokes. It won't hurt anything, but it also won't get any better.

Is there a way to fix those control rings without a rebuild or should I just leave it....also I haven't test driven it yet so I'm not sure if it smokes or not...I will post back in 2 weeks after I drive out there and put it through its paces.

No, the engine would have to be rebuilt to replace the control rings.
