You will need the matching counterweight.
Why won't NAPA resurface the S5 flywheel? Maybe just find a store that will instead of having to deal with the balance issues?

Just about any transmission shop should be able to resurface a flywheel. So long as the flywheel doesn't have a lot of bluing, cracks, or other defects then it should be able to be resurfaced.
well i have the front counter weight for the resurvaced flywheel. napa wont do it because they said they cant do it but the s4 has been resurvace already so i thought maybe just switch them over.

Find a competent shop.
Flywheels are resurfaced by the millions every day, it's not really rocket science.
I just dropped my flywheel (S4 TII) off this morning, and picked it up an hour ago.

so if i have the matching front counter weight for the s4 flywheel when i put it on the s5 there will be no balance issue. i did take it to a tranny shop and they messed up my s5 flywheel they got it flat for the most part but they hit a couple of hot spots and they could not get them out. so now im stuck with the s4 flywheel

a 5speed has the rear counterweight IN the flywheel.Unless it is an afteramarket lightweight flywheel using the Engine's series(s4 or s5) auto counterweight,
you can't use an S4 flywheel on a S5..it is weighted differently.

All S4's have 10lbs rotors
All 89-2002 13B's came with 9lbs rotors
Flywheel (unless light weight aftermarket matched with correct rest auto CW) must be used with correct weight/series rotors..
For your Sf TII jspec engine, you can NOT use the S4 flywheel, rotating assembly will be out of balance and will destroy your engine..
You can use S5 TII or an FD3S flywheel
S5 TII is 24lbs
FD3S is 22lbs
I have both of these on the shelf already resurfaced and ready to go..
No core required
Media blasted and resurfaced on the flywheel grinder
S5 TII $90.00 Shipped
FD3S $120.00 shipped
I am guessing Napa can't resurface your flywheel because of the Pins that locate the P-plate to the flywheel.. The pins must be removed in order to surface the flywheel. Some machine shops think this is a hassle to do. I don't think its a hassle, I do it all the time..
