JDM Turbo II

Ok, Recewntly purchased an 87 Turbo II with a known blown engine. After removing and disassembling, I can see there has been damage in the rfont rotor area and the irons. Looks like she just started to scuff. I beleive lapping bith iron an a new rotor and sheel be fine. I have access to lapping equipment. i am also contemplating just a new engine.

I see few turbo II engines for sale and if they are they are JDM. Ais there really a big advantage to a JDM? Are they worth the extra and truthfully, what benefit is a japanese market engine?

Thanks!!!!

As far as you question about JDM engines, there is basically no difference at all between them and USDM equivalents. A JDM engine will typically be a low mileage (though not always) engine from a Japanese junkyard. Buying and using one without rebuilding is a gamble. Some are blown, and some are actually in very good condition. It's a toss up, which is why you should always inspect before buying or make sure the seller offers a warranty.
