i recently picked up a 93 rx7.it has a motor but dont run for reasons unknow by me or the individual i got it from.i really want to drive the car and was looking at a jdm engine.most places now dont have any kind of warranty on the engines and some places do,i am wanting to purchase from this one company that has the best price and carrys a startup warranty.my question is will the engine go in without changing an *** load of things.and do you think that these motors will last a good couple or years with just ic and exhaust?i am wanting to rebuild the stock motor to have a backup in case it dont last, but am afraid i wont be able to do it.i need some good advice as to what i should do and what to expect if i decide to rebuild or just get a jdm motor
Depends on what year the JDM engine is. Im pretty sure the engines are similar from 93 to 95, but after that I dont know. But the wiring harness and the ecu are very different. Talk to Japan2LA and see if he can give you more info. He is usually selling JDM engines, and he might know more about a swap.
