Hi all, I just bought a '95 RX7 from auction in Japan. I'm hoping that someone can help shed some light on it. There are a few odd things that I'm curious about. Here's the tag in the door frame:

This is a '95 Montego Blue Type-R.

First odd thing is that the paint code is listed as 2A. I was under the impression that the paint code changed in 1994 from 2A to M8. Is that not true, or maybe not for JDM cars?

Second, it says special edition under under "Type-R." What's special about it? I thought that this was just a base model car.
