Exclamation Issues with the SA

When I idle its less than 1k rpms and when I take it out of the driveway, i can floor it and it may creep up to 20-25 mph. I recently replaced the battery and the spark plug wires and now it also wont start when I have the wire attached from the cap to the T2 plug. If its plugged in, the battery sounds like it shorts out and if it isn't plugged in, the engine turns over quickly. Also, it oddly can be started without the clutch depressed.

You need to rewrite your post so that it makes sense.

For example, the car is supposed to idle below 1000 RPM. 750 +/- 50 RPM is the factory idle speed.

How does a battery sound shorted?

What exactly is the problem you are having? Are you sure that all the plug wires are in their correct locations?

Sorry about that.

When I move the key to the on position, the radio starts, dash lights turn on, and the electrical works. When I turn it to start, it doesn't crank and all the electrical components turn shut off, I hear a pop that sounds like it comes from the battery and wont come back on until the leads are removed and put back on the battery.

The problem is that the engine turns over and will run if I remove the T2 spark plug wire, but if I attempt to drive it, the engine will rev VERY slowly. Takes about 10 seconds of flooring the gas pedal to get it to 2.5k rpms.

And yes the cables are all connected correctly.

First thing to check are the battery cables themselves. Are you sure they are not corroded?

Check the ignition leads to make sure they are going to the correct plug. Sounds like they aren't.

Check the carb secondaries to make sure they are opening.
