Issues with my new car

Hey everyone. I just recently bought a 1990 rx7 STU and just had a few questions. I've always wanted a FC rx7 but never had the chance to buy one and an opportunity came up and a took it. I've never worked on a rotary before but I have a decent understanding of them. When I bought the car I was told that it sat at a transmission shop for awhile and they didn't want it anymore, it turns over but doesn't crank up and I don't know where to start looking for issues. If anyone has some advice or info they could give me it would be greatly appreciated.

~Thanks,
Caleb

welcome to the board, Caleb.

to get the engine to start, if it is cranking, but not firing, you'll want to start with the basics.

1. fuel
if it was down long enough for the fuel to start turning to varnish, then you'll want to go through the fuel system from tank to injectors. if not, then you might be able to get away with just cleaning the injectors, changing the filters and confirming the pump is working.

2. spark
confirm that you're getting spark at all 4 plugs and that timing is correct.

3. compression
for now, just get some oil into the chambers, then turn the engine by hand. if you're not getting six distinct pulses, it may be something, it may be nothing, but either way you'll need to look into why.

do you have any idea how long it was sitting for?
