idle issues...
well first of all i just picked up a 1980 rx7 a couple of days ago. when i went to look at it there was a small miss fire but the car would stay running at idle but sounded kinda rough. the next morning i started it but it just wouldnt stay running... i took the air cleaner off and noticed that there are two vac lines that arent plugged. can any one send me a couple of close up pics to show me what ports should be blocked off and where these vac lines run to so i can maybe get her to stay running for me so i can at least mess with my timing issue?

Go to the 1st gen section, and search for "naked Nikki" or "stripped Nikki" and you should find information on what each connection is for, and what can be removed if you don't want it there. For now, plugging anything that's not connected should get you running better.
If a rotary engine floods, it will be damn near impossible to get it started again. So, if it's not starting, and sounds kinda funny when its turning over, and the exhaust smells like raw gas, then she's flooded. Grab a can of Seafoam, pour a couple ounces down the carb, then try again (should start right up).
Hit all of the basic tuneup items (cap, rotor, plugs), check the timing, and read up on tuning the carb over at www.sterlingmetalworks.com That will cover setting the idle speed and idle mixture.
Good luck...
