idle issues
I Have recently began have issues with my 1986 rx7's Idle... It wants to idle at 2k RPMs. I tried readjusting the TPS and it dropped to 1.5k RPMs and started to fluctuate so i thought someone here might beable to help out a bit any help will be highly appreciated.

I had/still have the same issue, except mine originally hung at about 2.5k. Originally I did have some vacuum leaks, which is the most probably cause considering there are so many vac lines and most are 20+ years old. Also, a lot of people suggest a stuck thermowax, but I have not had the opportunity to looking into this personally. Hope this info helps a little.

I have heard that a high idle is usually a vacuum leak. I had a clogged filter on my charcoal canister. To find it I used sprayed carb cleaner almost everywhere and pulled each vacuum hose off separately and plugged them to see if they adjusted the idle at all. I have also heard the brake booster is a common place for a vacuum leak. Good luck.

The TPS is to be set via the G/R wire at this sensor as the wire needs to read 1 volt w/key to on and the engine as hot as possible. Secondly, it's hard to set the TPS w/the idle so high. Your AFM flapper door might be staying open a bit too much. Your primary throttle plate might be sticking open too much as well. The Thermowax unit and its associated linkage might be problematic. Your throttle/Cruise Control cable might be in need of adjustment. W/the car running press upwards on the throttle linkage at the front of the throttle body and see if the idle drops.
