idle is eratic

when i start my car (87 N/A) the idle fluctuates between 1000 to 1500 then stops when it warms up and when i run it hard it does the same thing then stops after a couple minutes anybody know what this means?

Fix any vacuum leaks, and adjust the TPS.

Unfortunately, the vacuum diagrams can be a little confusing, but it's something.
