I need advice

I have an 85 rx-7 base model that got at an auction for a smoking deal of $500. I have gotten it running but I want to get my intentions set out before I start making decisions. So..

•first off, I have 12a in ther as of right now. So if I have plans to go to turbo would I want to go to a 13b or could I stick with a 12a?
•if I am going to stick with a 12a and go turbo would I want to get a new axle so I can replace the rear drums with discs?
•finally if I am going to go turbo with a 12a if I want to get around 350hp which would get me my best bang for my buck?

Turbo 13b is the cheapest and most cost effective solution. There are plenty of parts available, more so than 12a's.

Like pnoyrx7 said, it would be more cost effective to just get a 13bt right off the bat. You can turbo a 12a, but to get to the 350 whp mark, you'll be spending quite a bit. I have a 84 gsl-se that makes 380 to the wheels and its a riot.

At the 350 whp, the 12a axle probably won't hold up. But if i were you, I'd just drive the car and accumulate parts then swap it over.

all the 84-85 cars have the larger axles and bearings.
