Exclamation Need a lil advice for my FC

Alrighty then, this is my very first post with you guys, i read your forum all the time and i have to say its f-ing great...anyways let me stop rambling and get to business.

I am a Co-owner of a racing team out of central florida, ive dealt with Hondas, Chevys , and Toyotas...but my bestfriend and other co owner of our team has a first gen rx-7, and after driving it only a few times ive fell in love. So one day i had a vision, a rx-7 drag car made specifically how i want it. now i know a little about rotarys but im not expert.

We were first going to go with a 1st gen GSL-SE as our body and build the engine up from there, but a team member had an 87 GXL drift car for sale, and only $200....full working motor and tranny and decent interior, so i bought it...the paint was ratty...but who cars..a paint job doesnt make u go faster. So this is what i have, We stripped the car down to just a driver seat and dash on the inside. We are going to pull the motor out of it, do a radical bridge port, forced induction, turbo II injectors, MSD ignition and so on.

I just need some advice on how to get some of the parts that i need for a reasonable price. I need a roll cage ( 6 or 8 point works), a tach that goes up to 12,000 rpm , a supercharger, and a used turbo II hood. Please reply back with answers or just some friendly advice, all the help i can get is greatly apreciated.

Well, there is a vendors list in the archives for a start....

As well you should check out your local for sale section on the forum for parts like the TII hood.

You may want to do some research into forced induction before making your mind up on supercharging.....and if you plan on doing a bridge port, you list will probably expand well beyond a cage, tach and hood.

Good luck on the build!

well my list is a large list....the three thing i posted were things that i have trouble locating...the engine build i have under control...but the whole reason i am choosing superchargeing is because my main mechanic is a rotary specialist, He has worked for Mazda dealerships, owned his own Rotary Performance company, and raced professionally in the SCCA in a 1st gen rx-7...but he told me he wont build the motor if I turbocharge it, and our relationship is too great to just not go with what he has to say. So that leaves Nitrous and Supercharging, and i wont use nitrous for my own reasons, so that leaves a supercharger.

What type of supercharger will you be using? I'm still in the process of doing one on mine w/ a Millenia supercharger that I bought off ebay for about $375. And who's your mechanic? I can't find any rotary specialists here in Tally or NW FL. Would be cool if you could hook me up to yours.

My projects' on the backburner right now only coz I have to work on this house I bought as a foreclosure that has a shed I'm converting into a garage so I can work on the car w/out the heat and bugs. Wondering if you'd like to swap ideas on the blower.

Found my blower on Ebay and after researching a bit about the twin screw design on the Millenia blower found that for up to 14 lbs of boost it would be quite an efficient way to get forced induction. The boost characterisitics match the beathing of the RX engines quite well. It also compresses air with a lot less temp rise because of it's twin screw design. If you do get the blower off a Millenia I'd also suggest getting the bypass valve off the same car.

I'd also suggest going w/ RB headers or even better Kahren's headers if money is no object.
Right now the mounting is planned for attaching a custom bracket to the uim/lim studs and a support brace to either the engine mount or acv bolts/studs after the acv is blocked off. biggest problem here so far is the stock AC lines being in the way of the blower custom intake plenum. I'm having it machined out of a block of solid aluminum to accomodate at least a 2.75"-3" intake pipe to match it to a Mustang/Crown Victoria TB.

Thread edited for bumps.

Bumps are forbidden in the 2nd gen technical section. dgracing29 Please read the 2nd gen RX-7 technical section rules sticky thread (https://www.rx7club.com/2nd-generation-specific-1986-1992-17/all-members-new-old-must-read-before-posting%3B-rules-guidelines-456843/) found at the top of this section before posting again

I just so happen to have a millenia S supercharger setup for sale!

Includes everything needed to bolt up a Millenia S charger, even the FMIC.

$750 and it comes with a spare charger for parts. It is set up for 8 psi and will make that at 1500 rpm with a half second of lag. Bypass valve, mounting brackets, pulleys, belt, adapter pipes, fmic pipes, everything except the Ecu and a useable charger. A ton of work went into it, about 3+ months and wondering if it would work or not. Well it did, fourth gear was stronger than third had been before, this on a big street port at low rpm.

selling because I need to be california emissions legal, hence the v8 swap

Ecu, injectors, drivetrain upgrades, and a good used supercharger. Forced induction on a rotary isn't as easy as it looks.
