i am new to the rotary engine, and have problems

i bought an 87 rx7 n/a , i think it is and fb? it says it in certain places.... it was an impulse buy... junker car... basically a car to work on when i have nothing else to do... i guess i could start off with some of the problems i am having.
the tach doesn't work... the auto suspension doesn't seem to work... i read an article about the port valves, and they seem to also be stuck and not move at all... it seems to me that the engine revs up fine while not moveing, but when your trying to go it doesn't want to go up that high in rpms, its like it hits a redline, thats not supposed to be there..
it did not run when i bought it, i had to put a fuel pump in along with a clutch master and slave... the body on the vehicle is near perfect, besides a paint job needed ( someone tried to paint it at home and didn't know what they were doing)... can anyone help me?

An FB would be a 1st gen car, you have an 2nd gen or FC. It's in the VIN number.

The tach may not work because of a loose connection at the ECU, or there is a problem with the signal wire that runs from the trailing coil.

Your acceleration problems may be the secondary injectors not firing at 3800 RPM, or the exhaust system may be plugged up. In particular, check the voltage at the injectors (it should be 12V w/ the key to 'ON') and the cats.

A Haynes manual and the Factory service manual will give you the information you need. The FSM and wiring diagrams can be downloaded from the 2nd gen FAQ at the top of this section.

Maybe vacuum?

Correct me if I'm wrong, but with a lot of engines I have worked on (not rotary), they have suffered that problem with not reving up past a certain point because of a vacuum leak. Just figured it would be one more3 thing you could check out if all else fails.

well i was checking out the secondary fuel system... and i noticed they are way down in there... is there a way to test these without removing the intake?... or any other main peices? even a regular test procedure can work. i've found the wiring diagrams... but havn't gotten around to the fuel hose routeing yet

That would be the primary fuel rail and injectors you're looking at. The secondaries are nice and easy to access on an NA, and are located on the backside of the intake manifold. With the key in the 'ON' position, the injectors should be getting 12V.

yes this car was sitting for about 3 years... while i had it, before that it could have been sitting for years... but since then, i did have a problem with fuel... i've replaced the pump and both filters, along with a complete system cleaning, no fuel problems, unless the injectors are not firing, but this vehicle runs great except for this problem
