How to start a RX7 that has been sitting?

Hello, I own a 1988 s4 FC3s mazda rx7 turbo, I have been looking to restore this car in the soon future. I would like to know how to try to start this car, it has been sitting 10+ years, all the problems that i know about are the occasional no crank issue and it needs a trans.

I've just begun the process of restoring my '83 RX-7 and found the following link to be a nice writeup of how to go about starting one that has been sitting for a while...

Good luck with you project!

Many Thanks, my family is the 3/4 owner of this car, If i remember correctly the car was parked because 1. the transmission went out (its an auto) I have a used and working trans to replace that. 2. when the car was running, some 10+ years ago it was ALWAYS breaking down 10 minutes of driving and the car would turn off and wouldn't crank, when it was brought to the gas station to refuel you wouldn't be able to turn it off because it either wouldn't turnoff or it wouldn't start back ( The gas station attendants sometimes refused to fuel the car with the engine running). About 8 or 9 years ago one of those Self-diagnostic checkers from Mazda was purchased to see if there were any codes being thrown up by the computer, but we never got the time to work on the car. I know that this is the wrong section to post this in but still.... Any input will probably help at this point! The car was definitely stored incorrectly, it is being stored in a shipping container where it has been for the time it has been unused. There is no trans in it, no inter-cooler, exhaust in the boot, and rags stuffed into the intake, i highly doubt that there has been some sort of fogging oil or oil put into the chambers. It was taken apart then put into storage.

well, you definitely have some electrical gremlins at work there. you'll have to check both the ignition and the fuel pump circuits to see if the wiring has been tampered with by a previous owner or vermin sneaking into the shipping container where it was kept. for that, you'll need a FSM and/or Haynes. check for the FSM at Foxed.ca or www.rotaryheads.com

Aaron Cake's guide is pretty comprehensive, so if you follow that, you should be good. you obviously have a lot of work ahead, so just tackle it as best you can, i find if i make checklists that it helps me compartmentalize and get things done better.

keep us abreast of your progress, and of course, don't hesitate to ask if you have questions.

Its been a long 5 years.... Got to pullin it out last month. She runs, but put up a fight. The fuel tank could belong to the titanic, same with the cooling system. After a few days of tinkering, working out the cooling, electrical, fuel. Its running good, exterior is pretty beat up but in time ill hopefully get that sorted.
