how to Install a short ram intake.
Need help!!!!!
I am trying to install a Weapon R short ram intake on my 1990 RX-7 convertible. The instrustions that came with the parts are not very good.
My problem is the that the air flow sensor is connected to a part that contains some sort of internal spring type valve just after the filter box, I can't connect the Weapon R intake with that part on. When trying to install without the sensor the engine doesn't turn over? Also there is a small hose on the Weapon R that I need to connect, not sure where? Again the instrustions don't mention this part, don't know how to modify.
Sorry for the long description!!!

That would be the AFM (air flow meter). Of course the engine won't run correctly without it; it measures air volume so the computer can meter fuel. You would need a reducer to go from one size tube to another.
But my advice would be to leave the stock intake setup alone. It is a true cold air intake that pulls from the bumper area. If you want to hope for a tiny gain, throw a K&N filter panel in there and be done with it. A "short ram intake" is a gimmick for Honda fan-boys. It is a hot air intake that will more than likely cost you power due to intake air temperature rise.

Thanks for the help!!!!!!
I also have a problem with the engine light coming on and the car losing power when hitting the gas peddle, the funny thing is that it doesn't happen all the time?? I managed to get the engine code being 27, for the 1990 RX7 code 27 was for either fuel injection system or throttle.
Has anyone had this problem before and if so how can I fix it!!!!
Thanks E-Q

27 - MOP (General) - Basic Fuel Injection and fixed timing
Your Metering Oil Pump is dead/disconnected. Search MOP/OMP for details. You will need a replacement pump and likely a new ECU as well.
