CA hot center console.

my center console gets hot especially to the right of the ash tray is this normal?

Well, without knowing what year of car it is...

Make sure that the cats are not clogged.

Make sure all stock heat shielding is in place.

The rubber shift boot might be ripped. You'll have to pull off the shift panel to find out. That's one thing I need to fix this winter.

It's probably heat from the main cat working up into the area.

Get a new rubber shift boot and check the heat shielding on the cat.

to the right of the ashtray is the Cigarette lighter which has a light that surrounds it.If need be take off the Center Console surround(Please search it is tricky on S4) and see if the Light bulb itself is Not hitting something...(you never Said HOW hot It gets,so I am going with the Least Hot!)

His question is about an FD, not FC. The cigarette lighter is nowhere near the ashtray on an FD.
