Question Hopefully my last exhaust question...

Okay last question about my NA S4 FC exhaust setup. I plan to be getting headers in the next little while and will probably get the rest custom fabbed to a muffler. Now, I want to be able to shoot flames because I am a dirty ricer (haha). But in all honesty, I want it to be loud but not ridiclous; ie still dailyable. Should I go straight through to muffler for mad flames? Or is a resonator recommended to give more back pressure for the 5/6th port actuators?
Thanks in advance!

having gotten a ticket for the "loudest exhaust" the cop "ever" heard with a stockport 12a... yeah. you don't want that drama. That said I'm a 1st gen guy and has no experience with the aux ports. some people do wire them open at a loss of midrange power.

There are many write-ups on 5th and 6th ports, I recommend doing a search. or look into Arron Cake, he as a write up to make sure they are working. Are they working now for sure? (they may be stuck and not be) and in that case it doesnt matter if the exhaust has enough back pressure. on that note Racing Beat makes a header designed to actuate the ports. IF you dont want you car loud then leave the exhaust alone, because it is going to be LOUD, REALLY REALLY LOUD.

If you go straight through to the mufflers, it will be too loud. WAY too loud. You will be banned from most tracks.

At the very least you're going to want two resonators or one resonator and one muffler.

One after the downpipe, one before the Y pipe.

I'd suggest the Vibrant Ultra-quiet 2.5" stainless resonator, and one of the Vibrant straight through mufflers. Combined with the two mufflers at the rear of the car.

You're still going to have to figure out aux port actuation. There are many solutions. Most common is to use the air pump and a RPM switch.

Oh okay thanks for the info. I had it open down pipe after the main cat (which is gutted) and it was pretty loud. I was thinking if I did a resonator to have less drone then have a single muffler out the back. I still want to make good ol rotary flames lol. And as for noise bans at tracks, they allow straight piped Gallardo at my local track... So noise doesn't seem to be an issue
