TX Car won't start. 1991 Mazda RX7 Convertible non Turbo

About a week ago my car began running rough.
I assumed it needed new plugs and wires so I replaced those.
It started the first time (although not as quickly as it should have).
I killed it and now it will not start at all.
The upper plugs are both wet with fuel.
Lower plugs are dry.
I'm an old gear head but know nothing about the rotary engine.
This is the first time I have had any issues at all.
Thanks for any assistance that anyone might be able to give me from such limited information.

Have you checked for spark?

Will the car at least fire up briefly if you used starter fluid?

I finally got it started by blowing out the plugs really well and then applying starting fluid . With the throttle on the floor it finally started and blew a lot of smoke. It still won't start right but I can at least get it started. It won't idle right now but I'll pull the throttle body tomorrow and clean it and then see if I can up the idle a little bit. I took it out and (as my daddy used to say "blew the soot out of it"). It is running better but still won't start correctly and won't idle. I hope to get that fixed tomorrow. Thanks,
