This kid is giving a bad name to teens who own 7's.
Drag racing 17 second cars is about as useful as farting in a tornado.
Take some time to compose halfway decent sentences and maybe people will take you more seriously as a teenager.
AutoX is the true "proving ground," not the drag strip. His honda isn't worth your time.

Seriously, why do people feel the need to race civic all the time and brag how they beat a civic? Of course there are some fast ones, but majority of them are slow, a waste of time and a waste of gas. Anyways, take it to the track and don't risk other people lives because of your foolishness.

The biggest reason to take him to an autocross, rather than a drag strip, should be obvious. He is claiming huge horsepower, which you do not have, so choose the "arena" that will give you the advantage instead of him. By suggesting a drag strip, you just bent over and grabbed your ankles. You chose the one arena which will suit him best, and hurt you the most. You have, in fact, gone out of your way to ensure that he will be victorious over you.
At an autocross, the emphasis is moved from horsepower to driving skill. His turbo would actually hurt him in this arena, with the boost coming in just when he needs to start braking again. Also, you should have an additional advantage of having rear wheel drive. I run a stock 12a, and beat 3rd gens all the time (and mustangs, vipers, vettes, porsches, etc.). For God's sake, the all time king of autocross cars is a freaking Miata! What more proof would you need?
I also offered to give you advice on driving in an autocross which (if you had taken it) would have been more than enough to ensure your victory if he has no experience at it.
Well, you can lead the teenager to water, but you can't make him use his damn noodle for anything constructive...

Cool man! Good Luck!
If you remember take some pictures and post them up after the event.
You'll need a helmet. but usually they may have one available there if you
can't get one.
Make sure you don't have items that can't fly around in the car.
And Make sure your battery is secure.
They will check those things.

Hey I didnt read the whole thread but 450hp on 8lbs is a unreachable goal. My friend had a Integra with a B18 pushing 17lbs and maybe, just maybe made close to 400. And power to weight matters a lot, but gotta think a Civic is a pretty light car also. A guy here locally has a bolt on 2007(8?) Civic SI with a supercharger and my 15.2 second truck walks away from him. Now Im guessing since hes in highschool, unless his parents bought the car, that its a older model. I know we have older cars as well but technology really helps with EFI and hondas old EFI was pretty weak. The car might be making close to 300 horse but in a FWD car unless hes got good tires we wont hook up to save his life.
Im not gunna preach about how bad street racing is because I have been there and done that. But it really is a good idea to go to a actual 1/4 drag strip and do it in a controlled environtment. If you dont have any available try and find the lowest populated area and make sure no ones around. I just moved into my new house and theres a good strip to the right of it and see people flying down it all the time. I dont have any kids but the day I do and they're out their riding their bikes and some jackass flies by that road hes gunna regret doing it.

Edit; I see that theres a track 40 min away from you. If you dont go there to race your an idiot man. It only takes one second for something to go wrong and sh*t to hit the fan on a road. +1 on the Auto-X idea. These RX7s shine there. And if the kid actually got some nice tires he will take a huge penalty. Leave the stock street tires on your car and youll have a huge handicap against a modified class turbo car. My friend had a 1986 Mazda B2000 bone *** stock and would keep up with corvettes after his handicap.

I'm glad that you have decided to follow my advice so far, and in the hopes that you will continue to do so for a bit longer I'm going to tell you this:
1. Read all of this thread, watch the video: https://www.rx7club.com/1st-gen-general-discussion-207/race-results-not-too-shabby-1st-gen-858589/
2. Before you race, put additional air in your tires. You will need a minimum of 40psi. Otherwise you will roll the tire over onto the sidewall, and there's not much traction to be had there.
Post back with any questions and I'll be happy to answer them. By the way, when do you race?

You will lose.
Unless he is a terrible driver his little civic is faster than your car.
I used to build civics. I had an EG with an SIR2 Motor and a USDM Type R Tranny Swap. I set it up for road racing, but then grew up and realized RWD is way cooler than FWD.
Don't get me wrong I would love to still have my civic...I gutted it and did a lot of work to it. It only had about 175 HP and 42 ft lbs of torque.... but it ran a 13.2 in the 1/4 and I DO have the slips to prove it.
I estimate he probably has around 150 hp with 41 ft. lbs of torque and his car weighs about 2600 lbs in stock trim.
You have 0 advantage. If you win... it's because he made mistakes and you didn't.

Dont be stupid and race on the street, you put a lot of people in danger by doing that. And not having a lincense for a few years just because you think you had something to prove is just plain dumb. You most def stand a better chance at the autoX. Go to the place before the race and get a feel for the track. Then you will have an even better chance, that is if hes never autox before.
Good luck,
Jeff

this thread is gay. :
He probably has one of these:
All you're going to do is wreck your damn car. You cannot possibly have any driving experience; I can tell just by reading this thread. Just make fun of him. You know, say things like "wrong wheel drive" "Family car" "econo-box" "you're a ******" etc. Then don't race him. Your car has too much class to match against it, even if it's faster.
You know why?
This ever epic poster describes why:
No street racing either. Use your Fast&Furious/initialD dvd's as coasters and forget everything you learned while watching them.
