Hi, I'm new to the rx7 scene
I recently got an 87' Rx7 turbo 2. I know very little about working on these cars, but I am eager to learn. Today while I was driving my clutch pedal stuck to the floor. I had to reach down and pull it and it went back to its proper place, this happened twice. I am not very knowledgable on clutches.
I checked my haynes manual in the troubleshooting section and it gave me two possible problems. Fork shaft binding in housing, or, Broken release bearing or fork.
Can someone please give me some advice on this problem. I would also like to know how much work is involved and maybe the cost of fixing it.

Can't believe the manual didn't tell you the real reason 90% of the time...clutch hydraulics are gone, time for a rebuild but it's just easier and less time-consuming to replace the master and slave cylinders together and at the same time with new stuff.

Clark, unless you are meticulously clean and hyper-detail-oriented, you are going to be a lot better off just getting in-the-box rebuilt units and installing them. Kits don't last near as long as the stuff that's already been done for you.

Rebuilt units from Autozone still going strong 3 years later, total cost was right at $60 and they have a lifetime warranty on the same car...like they can tell the difference. When the hydraulics went out on the grey '83 RX-7 - that was the rebuild kit one, died at two years of use - I just went with the receipt and the cores from the yellow '84 RX-7 done a year earlier and got another set of rebuilt units for free, no questions asked.

It's just a beat up, greasy core you're bringing to them along with the receipt. They're doing this to themselves because they don't stamp the rebuild with a VIN or anything...they just grab it off the shelf and you're on your way. It's the receipt that is key and the master and slave cylinder is the same for all '83 and '84 FB's with drums in the back. I'll never have to pay for that part again.
