Hey, looking at FD, got some questions
Hey, it's obvious that I'm the new guy. I don't have a RX7 yet but I will be trading my '99 Subaru 2.5RS with a WRX swap for a FD. The rotary was recently rebuilt, he has receipts to prove it. Is there any thing i should look out for in particular? Any help will be greatly appreciated.

There are others stickied in the FAQs of the 3rd Gen. section under "Buying"
Seriously...think about it for a minute. How would any of us know...you did didn't post a price. Take it to a decent collision shop and ask for an estimate, then you can answer your own question.

I just need to know if it's even worth trading my car for the FD. Should I turn down the car because of the dent? It has a rebuilt street port engine with receipts to prove.

One of the 1st things I'd do is pop the radiator cap off and have a look/sniff. The 2nd thing I'd do is take one last trip to the grocery store in my 4-door, because once you drive the RX-7, if it's running right, you'll be sold.
What color is that car? Got any pics?

And the rebuilt street ported engine with receipts isn't by itself a deal-maker either. How many miles, who did it? Vast majority of FDs in existence today have been rebuilt...most I suspect with receipts.
Not trying to rain on your parade....well OK, maybe a little. It's just that it's clear you like the car, but IMO you should try to avoid that impulse buy. Get a price for the roof repair, if you've read those stickys then you should have some questions to ask and specific things to look for (silicone hoses; cooling mods etc). Why is he selling?
In the final analysis, we can't tell you if it's "worth trading" your car for.

1) Asking Price
2) Where in Florida...get an experienced owner to help you.
3) Get estimate on dent...personally the dent would really bother me but may be able to be popped out with the head liner removed.
4) I don't care if the motor was rebuilt last week...get a compression test.
5) What else has been updated on the car?
6) Check for clear, non-salvage title.

lol, hardly.
Just that a bazillion years ago I worked my way through college in a family collision shop and remember dealing with dents like that. At first glance it doesn't look like much, but in this particular case it looks as though it's even pulled at the gap between at the hatch too. That may come back naturally and not be a big deal, but sometimes not. Remember too that it's a VERY visible horizontal surface. Takes time (labor), patience and probably some sheetmetal shrinking. Any flaw will show.
Not a deal breaker for me, but your right the price should reflect the damage. That's why I recommended getting an estimate if possible before talking price.
