Help with rear window/hatch dimensions??

Hey guys I hope I'm not breaking any forum rules.... I'm just a fellow car enthusiast in search of data. I have a crazy idea of using the rear window and hatch from the FD RX-7 to make a custom top for a completely different car, but I need to verify the dimensions before I invest in such a project.

I specifically need the length of the glass from roof to trunk, and the width of the hatch at its widest point.

I don't personally own an FD, and I don't know anybody who owns one, I'm hoping one of you guys would be kind enough to take a couple measurements of your car so I can verify my idea will work.

Any help is greatly appreciated!!

Not sure how precise you need these measurements. It's hard to get exact measuring with a tape measure by yourself. But FWIW...

Front to back is approximately 54". Add approximately 3/4" to the rear edge of my rear spoiler.
Looking at it, the widest point on the hatch cover is probably where it begins to curve upward toward the roof. Measuring as best I could it too is approximately 54 .5".
Note the measurements are NOT following the contour of the hatch.

Great thank you!! I totally understand what you're saying about measuring around contours, I'm just trying to get some numbers to work with.

For the length, I really just need the length of the glass - not the whole hatch.

Thanks again!! Very excited to see if this works with my idea!
