help please

My 87 turbo II has a unique problem, when I try to start it, it will sputter and almost start. Until you remove the intercooler which is stock. After this the car will idle on its own for around 20 seconds and then dies. All the emissions have been removed and blocked off with proper plates. Any Gurus out there?

Well if it is a stock ecu setup then there is proable a huge hole in it. The stock ecu has to have signal from the MAF sensor and if there is no air being pulled thru it when the engine is cracking then you have a hole in the system.

That would be the first step

Well i just removed all the hoses and gave them a through inspection. Having found nothing i performed a check on the AFM according to the FSM and all looks to be normal with reading the ohms. However, not sure how easy the measuring plate is supposed to open. It does not bind but does seem a little to firm to open. Thanks for the help though
