Help with cooling system %#%@^@

ok so I have had my FD for about a year now and I have been restoring the previous owners fuge ups.
I have tryed to get advice and tips to ensure i do things the right way the first time but im still a NUB so please go easy on me if this is a stupid problum...
here we go........
so far the car has had a full tune up and now im working on the overheating problum.
I just replaced the thurmostat with an OEM Mazda one from my dealer.. and i purchesed a funnel to refill and bleed air out as i go .... so when the car heats up to running temp and the thurmostat opens i get a bunch of little air bubbles and there is a leak from the overflow tank????? not sure if they are related or what all this would mean? any help ..
the car has an aftermarket AST: and stock radiator if that helps...
thanks for your advice

Hello,

You mention overheating issues but how do you determine it is overheating? The gauge on the IC, aftermarket gauge, else?

You can find tons of info out there by the way:

The apexi power fc and the stock gauge both had the car over 100c. And my fans would not turn on no matter how hot it got. So I put the fans on a switch so I can turn them on when I want to. Now when it gets to running temp the overflow tank leaks a consistent flow of antifreez and I'm not sure if why? And I get a lot of little bubbles from the fill neck when the car hits runing temp. ???? I just need ideas so I can figure out what to fix.

Joel pointed you to an excellent thread on the FD cooling system. Read it. it is also in the FAQ.

List all your mods. Tell us when you experience the overheating or hot running issues. is it in stop/go traffic or when cruising on the highway etc? Be detailed in your response.

Obviously you need to troubleshoot your issue with the fans. The car is at least 15 years old so you should consider replacing the coolant hoses and get new OEM hose clamps and then do a full coolant system flush, bleed the air out of the system and do a coolant system pressure test.
