Help! Coolant steaming out near carborator

My 1988 Mazda RX-7 (non-turbo) started steaming out coolant somewhere around the top of the engine on the drivers side near the firewall. I can hear the hissing sound coming from near that area but pin-pointing the source of the ejecting steam wasn't successful at first glance. I thought heater hoses or intake manifold gasket but there maybe other places to check. Any suggestion where to look and how to go about checking things.

Thanks.

I looked again and it's squirting coolant from somewhere on the driver side and toward the bottom of the carburetor but it's hard to tell exactly where.

1988 has no carb. probably a heater hose or coolant hose that attaches to the throttle body? don't really know a whole lot bout the fc.

From the driver's side, squirting is from somewhere underneath the fuel injector (the top part that is easily seen).

Nothing seem wrong with the easily visible hoses on that side of the injector. Is that hose hard to see? I can't find a picture or good description to let me know what I'm suppose to be looking at. Do you have some suggestions?

Thanks.

There's a small-diameter coolant hose that connects to a port on the top of the engine under the upper intake manifold. [See the attached image.] It's very difficult, if not impossible, to see the connecting point under the UIM and usually requires removal of the UIM to replace it. The other end of this hose connects to the thermo thingy at the rear of the throttle body. That may be the hose that's leaking. Only other alternative leak sites are the two heater hoses that enter the car through the firewall--one on the drivers side and one on the passenger side.

Thanks for clearing that up.

Would the gasket between the fuel injector and the UIM be a possibility? If so then how many bolts/nuts hold it down because I can't seem to easily take the injector off.

I'll try looking more at that hose again since I've got some stuff out of the way.

Also, I'm sure it's not the heater hoses.

It was that hose. Thank you.
