So i just bought me my first rotary been a rotary fanatic since 15 just turned 18 had my money saved and got me a 1985 Mazda Rx7 GS 12a caburated engine so hyped haha. But anyways back to the subject when i first bought the car it was starting. But now it wont start for nothing when i tried to turn it on its was 17 degrees and it cranked i kept trying to turn it on and it just wouldnt start then all of a sudden it stopped cranking ... what can it be? I took the battery to get charged again and it still doesnt crank i remeber when it did turn on it made a grinding noise then i cranked it again and it turned on if that helps and the guy i bought i

 

Grinding?..uh=oh..doesn't sound good at all.
If you put a 19mm socket on the MAIN pulley at the bottom of the engine and try to rotate the engine and does not move the engine at all then you can most likely point towards the engine may have just bit the dust.It ate a seal or got carbonlocked.

 

Could be the Starter motor bit the dust...

 

No the engine still runs but i just got to push start it somone pushes it and i put in second pop the clutch turn the key it starts but when its sitting still it wont start or crank ... im thinkin maybe it lost compression ?? But it started that day when i bought it thats what i dont gettt

 

Yeh im thinkin it is the starter he probably put a starter that wasnt worth a ****
