OK Hello all, please help??

hey guys, I have a story to tell and a couple questions I need answered??

I was recently driving down the road when a interesting car caught my eye on the side of the road. At first glance it looked like a Z31 Nissan 300zx ( because I own one and run it as a dirt circle track car ). So I stopped and turned around because my Z31 got put into the wall and I was needing a new shell. Come to found out its a first gen RX-7. Its brown in color and has no wheels and tires or hardly any rear suspension. I had never seen one where I'm from, so it took me by surprise. No houses were around this car just a shop in the back ground with weeds up over everything. I fell in love with the car so I left a note leaving my contact info. A gentleman calls me and tells me he has two, one in the shop out back and the one outside is a parts car for it, its just a shell pretty much.

The one outside (brown) its a 82 standard model. The one inside ( orange ) is a 85 GSL SE and its 13B fuel injection and he actually raced this car as a auto cross car 18 years ago. It has a roll cage even. He parked the car 10 years ago and it as sat inside ever since. Ever since I spoke to him on the phone I haven't been able to stop thinking about them. I've been on here and YouTube studying these cars. He gave me a good price and you get both cars. I went to see the GSL today, and was disappointed to hear some news

He said when he raced autocross, you couldn't run antifreeze because if you were to leak, it would get slippery for all the cars. So the car has only had water all this time. Assuming the worst, has anyone had anything freeze and bust on these motors? maybe lucky and a freeze plug? Id still like to buy the cars regardless, but thought maybe if there was a chance I could save 13B.

Any help and advice is appreciated, and thank you for taking the time to read my post!

I would be more worried about internal corrosion sitting with water only that long. Not only that, you could have other internal engine issues (sticking seals etc) from not being run in so long. If the price is good enough, buy it and plan on replacing the engine.

Makes sense. It is cheap IMO, he's asking $750 including the parts car. I'm kinda bummed because I wanted to turn it into a daily, and since he ran it as a racecar, he had the doors gutted so no glass on each door. But I can cut the door bars off and have a drag racers style door bar and put the standard doors on off the other car. I just cant believe they cut up GSL doors.

The asking price is more than fair for both cars. You can buy doors or you can buy regulators and glass. That SE will be worth money if you restore it correctly. The values of our cars are on the rise. Start a build thread in the 1st gen section and share pictures of your FB's!! We would love to see pictures of your 7's!
