The hell is wrong with this......
Well. as few of you know ive been doing a resto project on my RX7. ive promised pictures and info on everything ive been doing. i have yet to post them. i will. give me time. NOW TO THE POINT--- OK i was at the track the weekend before last and i was doing test and tune runs being as ive been rebuilding the main engine components and what not. i pull it off the strip and park it and turn it off. i go to turn it back on five minutes later and is wouldnt start. id just get a click and the my voltage would read dead 0. so i figured i just fried me battery (dead celled) it. i go and get the battery tested and it check out fine. so the next thing would be the ignition switches on the dizzy. i go get both of them checked out and one of them fails. i bought a whole new dizzy with new igniters and modules. slapped it on and tried to start it. it started fine but i wasnt getting and oil pressure. i drove it to the parts store and i bought some oil and put it in. the pressure went up but not nearly where its supposed to be at idle. it should be at 40 psi but it sits right at 20. no good. i have no power what soever. so i drove it home (well more so putted along causing road rage behind me) and parked it. i open the hood and smoke was coming off if my oil cooler. mind you the engine temp dial ready normal operating temperature. MY QUESTION IS- what could cause my car to do this? is it the oil metering pump? another note i adjusted the timing and itll only start if i have it at full advance. dizzy turned all the way right. (bolt is on the far right side of the slider) and when i try to put the timing back a dead center it runs like ****. and no matter what i do to the timing i have no power and usaully if i give it the slightest bit of gas it just dies. i am very frustrated and i need help. sorry about the long message. all help is appreciated and ill get all my pictures gathered and what not soon. and start my resto thread. thanks again guys/girls. happy motoring.

The fact that it was running before might negate this, but it sounds like you need to restab the dizzy. Does your timing mark line up when you have the dizzy turned all the way?

yes it does align with the timing mark. (i think. this is my first carbed motor, i know nothing about anything, treat me like a new born) lmao. but im an idiot and dont know how to "restab" the dizzy as you've put it. but would that also effect my oil pressure reading low. and the symptoms ive described with that as well?

yes i did. but i thought that since RIGHT before at the track it was running correct oil pressure. So i started it and let it warm up to see if it was just the fact that it had set. and even after it warmed up it wouldnt get above 60 psi floored and it should be at 110. at idle it was at 20 psi. and i drove it around the street to see if it was just a non mechanical issue. IE my gauge going bad. but nope. Could in the matter of three days of me letting it sit then fixing it cause all this? when it was PERFECTLY fine before the ignition module went out? im talking not smoking on start up and perfect dead on idle right under 1k. perfectly smooth not lumpyness every time it started.

The OMP has nothing to do with actual or indicated oil pressure. And if it only took a quart or so to fill it, you probably didn't do any real harm. Low indicated oil pressure, especially at idle, could be as simple as a dirty connection at the sensor.
Not really familiar with FBs, but it sure sounds like the lack of power is timing, not compression. Check coil(s)?

Alright thanks guys for your help. Ive checked everything that youve stated and i got the timing aligned (so i think) now it turn but wont start. thats one big hurdle. and i can spin the main pulley freely so i know its not carbon lock or hydro locked. ( thank god). i am thinking it might be my leading coil that has gone out because of the ignition switch that was connected to it blew. and then i hot started it and drove it home. so im sure the problem is with the coils alone now. so hopefully ill buy some new MSD coils and go from there. thanks again guys and ill update when i get the parts.
